About the Walk
Experience Kolkata as it moves from quiet beginnings into full life.
This immersive riverside walk unfolds along the Hooghly, where the ghats have shaped the city's everyday rhythm for generations. We move through the Flower Market, surrounded by colour, scent, and constant motion, before crossing Howrah Bridge on foot, taking in the scale and energy that connects two halves of the city.
A ferry ride across the Ganga offers a moment of calm and perspective, revealing Kolkata from the water as thousands experience it daily. The walk then leads into Kumartuli, where artisans work with river clay, shaping idols through skill, tradition, and quiet devotion.
Along the way, we pause for local tea and observation, letting the city reveal itself in small, unplanned moments. This walk offers an honest, unfiltered way to experience Kolkata, grounded in its river, its people, and its living traditions.

About the Walk
This walk takes you through White Town, the historic centre of British-era Calcutta. These streets once formed the administrative and social heart of the city, and many of the buildings from that time still stand, carrying traces of everyday life from another era.
As we walk through colonial architecture, we also touch upon stories from India's freedom movement and the many firsts that began in this part of the city. The past here feels close, not distant, shaped by people, ideas, and quiet resistance.
Midway, we stop for Kolkata's iconic Malai Toast at a familiar adda corner, a simple local favourite that has remained unchanged over the years.
This walk offers an easy, thoughtful way to understand colonial Calcutta and the layers of history that continue to shape the city.
